OUR FIRM HISTORY

DAVID GILL/STEVEN HALBERG LIMITED was formed in July 1990 to provide quality professional golf course architectural, landscape architectural, golf course management, and construction management services. The firm was created with the association of Steven Halberg and David Gill. Mr. Gill and Mr. Halberg worked together for several years in a client- consultant relationship on a golf course managed by Mr. Halberg prior to Mr. Halberg joining Mr. Gill in the formation of David Gill/Steven Halberg Limited. Until his death in October 1991 David Gill provided professional golf course architectural and engineering design services for over forty years, on over 150 golf course projects, including three courses recognized in the top seventy-five public golf courses by Golf Digest.

Mr. Halberg, President and Principal Designer of DAVID GILL/STEVEN HALBERG LIMITED has thirteen years of public recreation planning experience prior to joining with Mr. Gill in forming the new company. Mr. Halberg's career includes serving as Superintendent of Parks and Planning for the Elk Grove Park District, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and more recently as Director of Planning and Development for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Illinois where responsibilities included general management of the District's eighteen hole municipal golf course operation.

During his career with the Forest Preserve District Mr. Halberg worked closely with Mr. Gill on the master planning of a thirty-six hole golf complex, planning the remodeling and renovation of an eighteen hole golf facility ,and the design and planning of the remodeling, renovation, and integration of two eighteen hole golf courses into a major forty-five hole golf complex.

Mr. Halberg, a registered landscape architect in Minnesota and Illinois, also holds a Master's in Business Administration with a Finance Concentration.

This educational and experience background is fundamental in the basic understanding that golf is a business. The successful golf course and golf course development or modification project requires a significant investment in both time and financial resources. The mark of a successful golf course is the unification of the golf architecture, environment, recreation, management, financial, and economic components into a memorable golf experience.

 OFFICE LOCATION

DAVID GILL/STEVEN HALBERG LIMITED is located in a far western suburb of Chicago. This location, close to major transportation hubs, allows us to effectively serve clients throughout the country.
