David Gill/Steven Halberg Limited
as a team member with an engineering firm designed the eighteen hole golf
course and driving range as part of a 230 acre community park being
developed by the New Lenox Community Park District.
The Master Development for the
community park includes the eighteen hole golf course, driving range, a
recreation center complex with space available for an indoor-outdoor
swimming complex.
The recreation center complex
development is planned for a future phase.
The eighteen hole golf course is
a par 72 layout integrating multiple tees into challenging golf holes.
The multiple tees balance the playing experience for both the skilled and
the novice player. The golf course layout is sensitive to environmental
issues including storm water management, flood plain, wetlands, and a
significant a cultural resource discovered during the planning and design
phase.
The project began construction in
the late summer of 1994 after the final permits are issued by the
regulatory agencies. The golf course opening for play in September 1996.

provided the irrigation and water management design for the golf course
and pond systems.
